BESS Arzberg

101 MW, 198 MWh (2 hours) in Arzberg, Bayern, registered as operating since 7 April 2025. Everything on this page is read from Germany’s register of power units and the other published records named beside each fact.

What it is

The register holds this battery as two units.

UnitRegister numberMWMWhCommissionedBatteryGrid operator check
BESS - DE - ARZBERG - GMROSEE90990821998250997 April 2025Lithiumunder check
BESS - DE - ARZBERG - GMRWSEE97181523952050991 December 2025Lithiumunder check

Power is the net power the operator registered, the most the unit may feed into the grid. Energy is the usable capacity of the unit’s installation. A grid operator check marked “checked” means the grid company has confirmed the entry; “under check” means it has not yet. On the large sites we compared, the register’s commissioning date often came months before the owner’s announced start, which suggests it records first energisation.

Who runs it and who owns it

MW Storage NOB GmbHAmtsgericht Hof HRB 6769Wunsiedel, Bayern

Owner. MW Storage AG, Switzerland, with its MW Storage Fund and Reichmuth Infrastructure; Bayernwerk and ZukunftsEnergie Nordostbayern also invested. From the owner’s own publication. Evidence: Bayernwerk press release of 10 November 2024 on the Arzberg battery and its investors; shareholder list not read. Checked 11 October 2026. Every battery of this family.

The register names the operator, the company that runs the unit. The owner behind it comes from the commercial register (Handelsregister) or the owner’s own publication, as marked. The register number is the one the operator typed in; on 11 October 2026 we found it wrong or missing for 26 of the companies we looked up.

What this page cannot show

Germany publishes no battery’s metered output. On 11 October 2026 we checked the four public sources that might carry it: the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, SMARD, the yearly EEG data and the transmission companies’ redispatch records. None gives the output of any German battery, one by one or as a fleet. So this page cannot say what the battery exported, imported or earned, as Britain’s battery pages do.
