Big Battery Lausitz

66 MW, 53 MWh (0.8 hours) in Brandenburg, registered as operating since 19 November 2020. Everything on this page is read from Germany’s register of power units and the other published records named beside each fact.

What it is

The register holds this battery as one unit.

Power is the net power the operator registered, the most the unit may feed into the grid. Energy is the usable capacity of the unit’s installation. A grid operator check marked “checked” means the grid company has confirmed the entry; “under check” means it has not yet. On the large sites we compared, the register’s commissioning date often came months before the owner’s announced start, which suggests it records first energisation.

Who runs it and who owns it

Owner. EP Group, through LEAG GmbH, through Lausitz Energie Verwaltungs GmbH (majority owner, per LEAG). From the owner’s own publication. Evidence: LEAG company page: Lausitz Energie Verwaltungs GmbH is the majority owner of Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG; an AG's shareholders are not shown in the register. Checked 11 October 2026. Every battery of this family.

The register names the operator, the company that runs the unit. The owner behind it comes from the commercial register (Handelsregister) or the owner’s own publication, as marked. The register number is the one the operator typed in; on 11 October 2026 we found it wrong or missing for 26 of the companies we looked up.

Doubts about this entry

MaStR and owner disagree. Big Battery Lausitz, Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke (LEAG), registered at 66 MW and 52.6 MWh. It was reported at 50 MW when it was built (pv magazine, https://www.pv-magazine.de/?p=16237); the MWh agree and the MW do not. Counted at the register’s 66 MW. The register gives it no coordinates or municipality.

What this page cannot show

Germany publishes no battery’s metered output. On 11 October 2026 we checked the four public sources that might carry it: the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, SMARD, the yearly EEG data and the transmission companies’ redispatch records. None gives the output of any German battery, one by one or as a fleet. So this page cannot say what the battery exported, imported or earned, as Britain’s battery pages do.
