Großbatteriespeicher Alfeld
99 MW, 203 MWh (2 hours) in Alfeld (Leine), Niedersachsen, registered as operating since 1 June 2026. Everything on this page is read from Germany’s register of power units and the other published records named beside each fact.
What it is
The register holds this battery as one unit.
| Unit | Register number | MW | MWh | Commissioned | Battery | Grid operator check |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Großbatteriespeicher Alfeld | SEE918385807070 | 99 | 203 | 1 June 2026 | Lithium | under check |
Power is the net power the operator registered, the most the unit may feed into the grid. Energy is the usable capacity of the unit’s installation. A grid operator check marked “checked” means the grid company has confirmed the entry; “under check” means it has not yet. On the large sites we compared, the register’s commissioning date often came months before the owner’s announced start, which suggests it records first energisation.
Who runs it and who owns it
| Operator in the register | Commercial register entry, as the operator gave it | Seat |
|---|---|---|
| Scale Alfeld GmbH & Co. KG | none given | München, Bayern |
Owner. Scale Storage Alfeld ApS, Denmark (the Scale fund that Kyon names as its partner); Obton still provides the general partner, through Scale Storage Alfeld ApS, Aarhus, Denmark (CVR 43539884), sole limited partner. Confirmed in the commercial register. Evidence: Current printout (AD) of Amtsgericht Flensburg HRA 10959, retrieved 11 October 2026, last entry 7 August 2026; former names Obton Storage 2 GmbH & Co. KG and Obton Alfeld GmbH & Co. KG. Developed by Kyon; bought by Obton in 2023 as Obton Storage 2, then Obton Alfeld GmbH & Co. KG; renamed Scale Alfeld GmbH & Co. KG with a Scale company as limited partner (register entry of 7 August 2026) Checked 11 October 2026. Every battery of this family.
The register names the operator, the company that runs the unit. The owner behind it comes from the commercial register (Handelsregister) or the owner’s own publication, as marked. The register number is the one the operator typed in; on 11 October 2026 we found it wrong or missing for 26 of the companies we looked up.

What this page cannot show
Germany publishes no battery’s metered output. On 11 October 2026 we checked the four public sources that might carry it: the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, SMARD, the yearly EEG data and the transmission companies’ redispatch records. None gives the output of any German battery, one by one or as a fleet. So this page cannot say what the battery exported, imported or earned, as Britain’s battery pages do.
